I have to agree that it wouldn't sell here as well as it once did. There are far too many good used 75s/ZTs around, which in some cases cost less than 10% the cost of a brand new one.

However I do think the MG brand still holds a strong position in the psyche of the lay motorist. With the right marketing I do think a reasonable success could be made of the car in the UK, however what they offer would need to be a significantly narrower range than in China etc.

Realistically, I think the V8 grilled versions are the only ones which stand a chance of selling in the UK as they are significantly more striking and butch than the MK2 type grilled versions, creating a more impressionable aesthetic.

The emphasis would really need to be placed on the combination of sport performance and luxury as opposed to the previous system of one or the other, possibly with prices pitched at the bottom end of the rep-mobile spectrum to try to tempt sales and family buyers.

I do think as per the MG TFs we were allocated, the lure of the MG brand would be a large sales asset, though only if the most MG-ish versions were provided. It would never be a sales phenomenon, but it could certainly provide a route for MG back in to the UK market for future models.

All that said, the website from Belarus is brilliant. Cigar Shape? King of V6? I know certainly that should I ever become wealthy enough to afford a brand new car, I'll be making a trip to Belarus to bring one home.

Based on what my customers are telling me, many would replace their ageing 75 ZT's with the MG7

Most prefer the ZT with the MK1 front (as do I)
So come on CHINA .......................let us have some please!

Living in Cape Town, South Africa, I probably see one Rover 75 a month and a ZT every four months or so. That is only three a year. If the MG6 ever gets introduced here, it will probably compete with the Mazda 6, Prelude, Sonata, etc. Looking at pics of it, I doubt it'll give BMW, Merc or Audi anything to worry about.
However, twelve years ago the 75 - ZT was undoubtedly a nicer car than the evenly priced BM and Merc of the day. The Audi was then and is probably still playing catch-up.
I agree that the ZT is an enthusiasts car. The 7 probably falls in that bracket (enthusiast) and probably won't sell, because of that. Not in Britain and certainly not here.

A 5 year service warranty would certainly enhance sales if it reached here.

Interesting to see that they have adopted the MG brand for the Roewe 750, rather than bring the MG7 (Rover 75/ZT hybrid) accross.

I would prefer a Mk1 ZT front as well.
Love the new treatment to the rear upper boot area.
Lovely interior.

Never ceases to amaze how the Chinese could replicate the Rover/MG engineering and take it one step further.
All credit.

Cool

Looks like a BMW 7-Series from this angle - they've even called it 750!

The premium Rover grille, LWB layout, Mercedes-inspired interior and new rear make it almost unrecognisable from the 1998 Rover 75. Only the front wings and doors seem to remain.

I do think they need to sort out the MG badge in a Rover shaped recess on the steering wheel. Why not use a ZT wheel?

Shame it is not coming here. In 5-years time I would love to buy a 60-plate one for a few thousand. Perhaps that is the problem. New car buyers are a different breed and wouldn't want to buy it in significant numbers after all the negative press.
