Default Removing stuck front discs - NON Rover

OK, so today I started the job of replacing the front discs & pads on the Sedona.

Got down to the disc on the near side, but I can't budge the disc.
Has anyone used 2 bolts/nuts throught the carrier holes to 'jack' off a discs?

I've put everything back for now as I found out the had way that there are 2 different pad designs for the Sedona & I bought the wrong ones , new set are on order.

I'm replacing the brakes as there is a steering wobble at low speeds & the discs are in a bad way.

Wanted: Walnut auto gear stick handle
Mods to do: all done , need to come up with some more.

I had that issue on my 260 autumn last year. I couldn't shift either bolt on the siezed caliper. Took it to Moordale Motors (lucky it was only 7 miles away but disc was still very hot). Impact driver did it in a jiffy. ;-)

I've used bolts to jack the discs off on some vehicles but have no Sedona experience. They usually stick around the hub to disc joint and have found that some penetrating oil and heat (plus welly) around the disc where it meets the hub usually works. I'm on the Sportage forum and there is a Sedona section on the Kia forum, where you may get some help.

Hi Stephen.
Seeing that you are changing the discs, and 2lb lump hammer on the back of the disc, turning the disc each time you give it a wallop, it should move for you, not recommended if you are not changing the disc though.

I have just done the same on my FL2 which was stuck fast, my fault really has the disc has not been off for at least 2.5yrs i usually remove them and clean them up once a year.

Never tried changing Sedona discs, but they all come off eventually.

Worse ones I've done were on my daughter's Mk5 Transit Horsebox. Read up on their forum and general opinion was you can soak them in penetrating oil, heat them up, beat them with a sledgehammer and none of that will work so you have to split them.

Didn't take too long to drill and grind a slot out and then crack the last bit around the hub with a hammer and chisel so the hub wasn't damaged.
Second one was quicker than the first.

Quick Update,

Used 2 bolts + nuts & jacked the disc off.
Worked like a charm, no beating the sh1t out of it witha 4lb hammer.
So much easier

Got to do it all again at the weekend, I bought grouved/drilled discs and have put them on the wrong sides

First time with grouved discs, the Sedona is a heavy beast and it suffers in the wet, a bit worrying first time

Good

I know of several cases where using the big hammer has taken the wheel bearing in the same go....

If seriously stuck, I have grinded nearly through the flange and split using a chissel....
