Default auto transmission startup

Got another Rover 75 doer upper as a project
Car runs perfectly, great motor and the auto changes are smooth and tight but when starting the car an interesting thing happens, almost feels like the car is slightly engaged in gear as in the car moves fractionly forward when cranking the starter, other than that it runs perfectly.
Ive owned a few 75 autos and not ever seen this before.

Possibly daft but have you checked the engine mounts? The movement of the engine as it fires up might cause the car to move slightly if the mounts are shot and don't damp it out.

Can't think what it would be gearbox wise - if you're starting in park, there's a pin engaged that locks the 'box so it can't rotate.

Does it creep if you just have it in neutral on the flat?

It does it on flat ground and have also thought about the engine mounts.
Only thing is when starting the car it starts perfectly,no bangs, clunks etc
Its not the lower engine mount as you would hear a knock when taking off
so maybe one of the mounts in engine, strange as the car runs so well

Does it creep in neutral/park on the flat when idling?
Or is it only at startup that it moves?

Only on startup, when cranking it almost feels like it's trying to move forward
slightly.
As said it runs perfectly otherwise.

With those symptoms explained. First thing to check is the selector cable which is located under the auto box
There is a HOW TO on here to show how it's done

If the selector cable was off would the inhibitor switch not prevent cranking?
