Default KV6 engine stalling

My engine revs can drop to 200 rpm before returning to a 700 rpm idle when de-clutching for stopping under normal driving. It sometimes does not return to normal idle but stalls (fortunately immediately restarting using the ignition key). Any suggestions?

Just seen a similar question in a 2009 post which I'm unable to quote from. Suggestion is an air leak into the manifold, which might be the situation here as one of the (working) vis motors is held on by only 2 screws, the other two being sheared off and not removable from the manifold. Comments please?

Thanks David. The vis motor appears to be seated properly but I guess there's a risk of the slightest of air leaks at the unsecured side. I'll try to rig up an arrangemnt to clamp down the motor.
Ideally I'd like to extract the broken screws, but as these have sheared flush with the face of the manifold am at a loss as to how to do this. Annoying as the manifold is fine with no issues of worn / broken flap links.

Hi.
Try disconnecting the purge valve connector and giving it a test run.

P2Roverman did you get to the bottom of this as it's exactly the same as I'm experiencing at the mo.

Newby - I've only just seen your reply to my post which is some months old. Reason I found it is that I've also just read your recent post as a result of me experiencing the same problem again after no issues over the last few months.

I see that several members are suggesting the idle control valve, so will check and clean this. must also get it properly serviced.
