When I get chance I'll see what happens when you plug a mic into that 3.5mm jack in the back of the h/unit. If you see ploooooooms of smoke over Norfolk, that'll be me
Lol, how did you get on?

Let us know how you get on. I need to have an enthusiasm injection - I am deeply frustrated now the weather has turned and I still have not got anywhere other than cutting back the mounting to accommodate the unit.

BUT - the walls are plastered/re-plasterred throughout, the kitchen fitted and the units in the Utility Room in but the services not yet connected as yet.

Spent the day fitting skirting board whilst the car sat on the drive, the complete Black Oak dash sat in its box in the garage and the 2 Din unit in its box in my office.......

LOL! it always seems to be that goodie things turn up when I'm most busy.

I've just finished the last of the skirting on Sunday. I've got a couple ceilings ( only small but really, really fidddly) to do before christmas but frankly I'm renovated out so I took an executive decision and had a couple of days off and fitted the radio. It was worth the grief from the foreman and it was a really nice change!

My next break will be replacing the hydramount and tie bar ( arriving soon!!)

This is so true... Why do parcels turn up when you have a million things to do?

I have a workbench to build before I can get on with my work.

Just to confirm the wires from the SWC - I did connect these two: blue/orange to the control pin, blue/purple to the earth pin. Went to the setup and it worked.

I tried plugging in a mic (from a Parrot carkit) to the 3.5mm jack connector on the back of the unit.
No smoke! It did work, but the caller on the other end reported an echo. There was no echo with the built in mic. Both were said to be rather quiet but understandable.

I´m now hoping to find a way to reduce the backlight illumination of the screen. You can press in the volume knob a few times to reach adjustments for brightness, contrast, etc., but even when turned low it leaves a rather glowing grey colour, not as I would wish for night driving... so I was wondering; did anyone manage to link backlighting with the dashboard brightness control? I suspect it may be possible by means of the DIN plug pin A6 (which is the standardised ¨Illumination¨ connection, marked as pin 15 on the rear label of this unit).
