I am unable to say how to go about it but believe it`s a pig of a job.
Look up "thermostat Mod" if all you want is some heat back in the car.

It is time consuming due to lack of access, but if you are handy with the spanners, it's nothing special.

The water pump gasket is part of a one piece gasket at that end of the engine from the factory, so you will have to cut the tabs to get the old one out before fitting the new one.

You'll need to remove the driver's side engine mounting and jack up the engine to gain better access. You don't need to remove the water pump to do the job either as the Haynes Manual would have you do. Also you will need to get a new O ring for the pipe as it doesn't come with the thermostat.

Thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Re-direct left in old. This may be the better forum as threads get ‘lost’ very quickly in the General Forum.
