Default Message centre fail

I lost all warning lights in the message centre, and also the trip computer readings. However, everything else on the car (2 litre Connie) was apparently working ok. I might add the ABS warning light in the centre cluster was not affected and stayed lit (ok, I know I have a fault to be fixed before the mot).
The next day the odometer etc readings stayed lit for 48 hours after removing the key resulting in a discharged battery.
Battery charged, car now running again and warning lights, trip computer and odometer lights now apparently behaving normally.
However, there obviously is a problem so would appreciate any advice as to where to start looking. I might add the plenum is dry.

Something on the car was taking the K bus down, the battery "Reset" did exactly that...

I would check boot, spare wheel well, floors etc for water... also check FBH if you have one and under bonnet connectors for corrosion or water...

It's been dry the last few days, but I know I have a leak, possibly the roof rail fixings. Currently all the trim is out of the rear of the car while I search for it - drips from between the inner and outer body steel near the back corner of the side window. however avoids the electronics there. I suppose possible tools etc stored there might have touched cables and caused a short?
Otherwise all electrics believed to be in good order and dry - there's a lot to check!
I do have a PScan unit not yet initialised, might this identify a fault code which could help to pinpoint the issue?

FBH ? Can't think what the acronym is for

Similar to mine a few weeks ago , but also lost central locking , mine turned out to be water in the parking sensor ecu which is in the boot , bolted to a bracket against the wing

Thanks for this. This is a known area of concern in my tourer, I'll check what's happening. All of the trim is out while I'm looking for the leak.
