Makes me think I ought to re-commission mine again. Inherited from my father who had it from 3 years old, it is a 1980 V8S (only 1100 produced) with the 3 optional extras, namely automatic transmission, leather upholstery (nutmeg), and black paintwork. I used it sparingly until a few years ago (nicely tucked up in a dry brick and slate garage), and it has only done a genuine 29,000 miles. Trouble is I don't really like it, but it has sentimental value. The engine and styling are great, but it is built like a tin can, although has never been welded or needed any rust repairs. Will advertise it on this forum if I ever do decide to sell.

An old fella near me owns this silver one, it has not moved in 25 years and he doesn't want to sell it either.

Its amazing how often that comes up, retired men (it's nearly always men) have cars around the place rotting not turned a wheel in decades and they still won't sell.
One near us 10/12 cars in the garden all bar one totally rotten. I think it's hoarding thing.

I love the exterior, but the interior is truly horrific to me. I understand that it the dash was done like that to make it easier for the switch between R/H and L/H, but its far too straight and practical for me.

I'm retired and have an SD1 Vitesse in Moonraker Blue. It sits in my fully carpeted garage under a tailored dust sheet.

The link below will show some photos.

They might be advertised for that amount, but I doubt it will be the final selling price.

You're quite right Malcolm, but that was the way in the seventies and eighties. You should treasure your V8S, if it hasn't been modified.

It's classic eighties styling. David Bache designed all his fascias like that. The instrument pod feature gives the cabin a feeling of spaciousness and the glove boxes are massive. Compare to the atrocious storage in a 75/ZT.

We had a few in Staffordshire as motorway patrol cars, I loved that V8, and the shape was imho nicer and ahead of its time when it sat alongside Granada's and Vauxhall Senator's
