Default Fluctuating fuel gauge

Hi all,

The fuel gauge is behaving a bit weird. Basically, when the fuel reaches the mark before the "half full" it moves according to the way I drive: moves toward empty when I turn left and moves towards full when I brake or I'm slowing down... any ideas? Only had the car for a few days.

Cool

It will be the sender unit in the tank. I've had this problem with Banana now for a couple of years.

The dual float system can be temperamental if either tank module has been replaced incorrectly or the float arms not positioned exactly right. There are loads of discussions and fixes described. Check this out: https://cse.google.co.uk/cse?hl=en&c...20fuel%20gauge

Found the problem; after refitting the abs sensor, the fuel gauge went back to normal.

No. The sensor simply wasn't there, because it had to be drilled out to fit the new wheel bearing. No sensor for a few weeks (and consequently abs light on and no speedo) until yesterday when I put a new sensor in when I fitted new discs and pads

Probably the fuel gauge takes a feed off the ABS sensor to calculate fuel used based on number of wheel turns .........
Wouldn't surprise me !
