If it gives a beep and says 'Wait' then the code is wrong.

A guess on the rogue connector would be Steering wheel controls - but it is just a guess.

I think that plug is used for factory fitted Hiline and Satnav units, if you haven't got Hiline then the plug goes unused.

No, that plug doesn't connect with the highline head unit (BordMonitor)
Might with the lowline.
