Have a Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 SE - seeking diesel or 1.8T 75/ZT
Prior to becoming a Jaguar owner, I had several Rovers, although never a 75.
I am looking to replace my Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 SE with something decent, family sized and (preferably) diesel powered. High up on my list: Rover 75 Connoisseur SE or ZT+, as I'd quite like to maintain a similar level of creature comforts. Diesel power is preferred, but the 1.8T petrol engines (on paper) seem pretty economical, too. I'd certainly consider one, especially if it has had the head gasket weakness taken care of. For simplicity's sake, a swap or part exhange is more appealing than selling, being without a car, then going hunting for a replacement. I have my S-Type on eBay, here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1405956169...84.m1555.l2649 If anyone is interested, please feel free to get in touch. Last edited by Craig; 5th September 2011 at 18:17.. As an afterthought, I recall seeing claims from ZT 190 owners that they get surprisingly good MPG figures from their cars.
My S-Type manages 21-23MPG around town and up to around 35 on a motorway run, travelling at a fairly steady 70mph. If a ZT 190 would do significantly better, I might be tempted... (although a diesel is preferable!) |

I agree, many claims are made about good MPG with petrol engines, but when you get one you find the one you bought is a fuel guzzler??? heh heh ..
Get a diesel, even a bad one will beat your Jags MPG... Diesel auto will do about 30 round town and 42-45 ish on a run... ... |

Thanks for the replies. Diesel is most definitely the sensible option.
That 'W' registered 75 does look nice. It hadn't escaped my attention. Unfortunately, the seller is a trader and is nearly 200 miles away from me, otherwise I'd have suggested a swap/part exchange. |

Give the man a ring, if you can do a deal then make the journey and enjoy the day out.. It will also give you a chance to check the 75 out on the way home..
But.. That 75 is very overpriced at the moment.. It needs to be around the £1500 mark.. ... Last edited by James.uk; 24th August 2011 at 16:36.. |

James,
The trouble is, it's potentially a fruitless 400 mile round trip in the S-Type if the car turns out to be unsuitable. I could do without that, at the moment. I think it's best to keep looking for cars that are closer and being sold privately. (And I agree with you - it is overpriced) |

Hiya Craig.. But the cars in Yorkshire innit ... And if you ask I am pretty certain one of the Yorkie lads will go climb all over the car and report back on it's condition... You just need to ask is all. Salt of the Earth are the Yorkies.....

Craig the W reg is about 2 miles from me If your really interested I can pop up and see it and take it for a spin and report back on whether its as good as it looks. It will give me an excuse, never driven a diesel manual mines an auto. Im off for a week after my night shift tonight.
