Default Help Removing Saloon Rear Seat Back

Good morning

Have been trying to remove the interior from my saloon this morning and I cannot for the life of me work out how to get the rear seat back out of the car.

Seems to be a J shaped slot that a metal pin goes into but I can't get it to slide up and out not matter what position I have the seat back in etc. There is a metal half moon shape in the bracket that the pin has to clear but it just keeps fouling it and won't slide up and out.

Some help from someone who has done it would be much appreciated.

Chris

Default Rear Seat Removal

Chris

I find the best way to remove the rear seat back is to first remove the side bolsters, just give them a good pull upwards, remove seat, and then pull back seat forward, then with push top of seat, and with a big screwdriver, put it in between the hinge and the bracket aqnd it should come out. I have done this on both my ZT's and did'nt have a problem, the clips are become very brittle over time, so take care, and they might not break.

Hope this helps

Stu

Sounds very similar to what I have been trying Stu, but to no avail.

I'll give it another go as at least now I know that should work.

Stu, it worked a treat, thanks

Got one end out and the other popped out without having to do anything

Have got the pics taken, now to see if the prospective buyer wants them?....

Just a cheeky hijack, but I've got the pullcord release for the rear seats, but it won't "lock" on the latches. I've got the MOT coming up soon and I'm sure they won't approve of that!

Anybody have any ideas on this?

Have you pulled the chord at the same time as pushing the seat back? Failing that, try pushing a heavy gauge (ie coat hanger) wire down the back of the seat to push the catch down? All i've got i'm afraid

I'll give that a bash on Monday and let you know - Rover is in Cornwall, and I'm up in Plymouth with my new project car - a 2002 Volvo V70 2.4T Auto. 200bhp is great, 24mpg is not. Need to hurry up and fix the Rover - already had to change the gearbox on the Volvo - and I don't recommend that to anyone!
