BarryH's 2001 75 Connoisseur CDT saloon **£495**Sold subject to collection
Posted for and on behalf of WayneH, son of BarryH
my Dad sadly passed away a few weeks ago after a short battle with cancer. I am selling the car on my Mum's behalf, as she is the executor to my Dad's Will. My Dad was very much a Rover fan, having owned many different models over the years and was member of this club for 7 years. My Dad owned this 75 for over 7 years and it was his pride and joy. The mileage is 104,715, although this may increase slightly and the MOT expires 04/09/2017, so there are 6 months remaining. If the information on the Parkers website is correct, the optional extras that are not standard on a Mk1 Connoisseur are; folding rear seats and metallic paint. It has the usual Mk1 Connoisseur refinements like dual climate control, CD changer, heated leather electric seats etc. Modifications wise, it has colour coded after market parking sensors, which work well. A Kenlowe fan and a 75 & ZT Owners club grill badge. The overall condition of the car is excellent and apart for the current ABS issue is a lovely drive. The bodywork is excellent, without a single dent, but there is a patch of rust on the front of the bonnet on the drivers side and another small bit in the drivers side rear wheel arch. The rear Rover badge has also faded somewhat. The interior is in excellent condition too, although I should point out my Dad was a smoker, so there is a bit of a stale tobacco smell in the car currently, but I am working on cleaning up the interior so this should be better by the time any potential buyer comes to view it. Mechanically, there is a minor issue with the ABS that has developed over the last few days, which causes some pulsing under the brake pedal at slower speeds, when braking. From what I have read on here, this is likely caused by a build up of rust in one of the rear brakes and should be an easy fix by stripping the brakes down and cleaning up around the wheel sensor. I am going to try and fix this myself. The cruise control also does not currently work. The master switch LED lights when pressed, but you cannot engage cruise. I suspect one of the pedal switches needs resetting. Motor Services, Plymouth I have receipts/invoices for all of the work done on the car during the time that Dad had it. Most notably, it had a new clutch fitted in June 2010, at 82,118 miles, when the clutch hydraulic slave cylinder failed and needed to be replaced. The car comes with the original owners manual, wallet and 2 working keys. Location: Bracknell, Berkshire Price: £695 If the issues noted above were fixed, I think this car is worth £995. But, a bit of money needs to be spent to make it tip top, so I have allowed for that. If I were to keep the car myself, I would replace the bonnet with a good one from a breaker, fix up the minor rust in the wheel arch and replace the Rover badge on the boot. The mechanical issues (ABS and Cruise) should be fixable for zero cost if you are handy with the spanners If you would like more information on this car, or would like to arrange a viewing, please send a Private Message to WayneH on here. |
