Default Rounded Off Brake Hose Nut?

Trying to fit some new brake hoses, but I can't get the 11m nut off the drivers side front - it's started to round off, bu I can't seem to hammer a 10mm spanner on to undo it.

IF I were to get it off - how can I fix it? Would I have to replace the whole brake pipe? How do I do that?

Is your rounded nut on the metal pipe?

Yes - the car end, not the hose end.

Have you tried a pair of moles, once a nut starts to round a normal spanner will just make it worse.

It's a bit late for that now - I don't think the nut could be safely done up again afterwards.

cut the pipe just behind the nut & get a single hex socket on it, then get someone to make you a new pipe up, most good independant type car accessory shops will do it

It's a hacksaw job, cut it a few inches back, reflair the pipe, use a male to male union and a new brake pipe stub flaired at both ends to connect with your hose and existing pipework.

I always thought of cutting / splicing the pipes as a "bit of a bodge" for some reason.

As I have a "spare" car I wondered if it'd be possible to remove a complete brake pipe from the Rover?

I've also bought a special brake pipe spanner in case that'll help...

Perfectly good engineering solution if the rest of the pipe is sound. To me a bodge is slapping on a bit of underseal to cover up corroded brake pipes that then cannot be inspected. A replacement bit of pipe can be inspected.

No harm in swapping over the pipes, assuming the nuts undo.

Forgive my stupidity - but I have no idea where they go / how they remove!

I assume that the brake pipes go via the ABS unit, but I'm not sure where that is
