Arjan_m's 75 1.8 mod topic
Hi everyone!
After six years of driving a diesel (some of you know her...), I had to sell it because the taxes for diesel are going sky-high over here (+/- 400 euro every 3 months) So last week I bought another 75, MidNhight Blue, but is a classic, so it has the cheapest cloth seats, and more plastic than other 75's (like the handbrake) But of course I started with some modifications, so the premium feel is coming back: When I bought it, this was how the inside looks: A Harmony radio without CD-changer, non-electric windows a the rear. Not that I mind that, but it feels a bit like a "naked" 75.... After spending some time on a scrapyard I found the following mod's 1. walnut/leather steering wheel 2. Original chrome door cappings 3. Chrome mirror caps 4. Gearknob walnut / leather 5. Leather Handbrake grip in stead of the plastic one Coming home I had some things from my diesel 75, so just went futher where I was started: 1. a PPD lighterr (for the purists.) 2. WinCE Head Unit. 3. Sandstone car mats in stead of black 4. MK2 airbag 5. NSF (left - LHD) grab handle 6. caps for the bolts of the seat belts

New license plates,
I've changed the speedoinlay with one from a MK2, still need to do the clock. And I connected the illuminated sunvisors. Slowly it starting to look like a premium car....

En yesterday I got a leather interior of a 75 MK2, electric and memory.
I made my own loom, and everything is working. On a later moment I'll have to connect the seat heating, because I don't have the switches yet. Halfway at the front: Now with both seats; MK2-seats in the rear has the advantage it has buttons to lay down the rear seat: This is making a big difference, leather is the way to go in a 75.

Very nice indeed but I would sort that steering wheel out as it's on the wrong side of the car

Today I received the torpedo badges, they were a bit faded:
After a quick clean, it needed some black paint: So let it dry for a while, and remove the paint that was too much. After that a good clean, and some new doublesided tape. Than they were ready to stick them on the 75! That's how a 75 should look, and one thing less on my to-do-list!

I have painted the parking sensors for the rear bumper, and eventually fitted them in the new bumper. Now everything is ready for the MK2 conversion.

I assume you couldn't find any of the facelift bits around here (Son/Helmond/Eindhoven) could you. I can't! Getting the 80cm boot finisher was a coup (but best throw away the external boot-lock to be 'original'). Facelifts in Holland tend to be very scarce.
Drop me a PM if it would be OK to come and take a look at her some time :-) David Last edited by dbt01; 5th May 2017 at 19:41.. |

Hi David,
It wasn't very difficult to find the parts. Most were of a local scrapyard, and eBay of course. I found the MK2 rear-bumper in a little village near St. Anthonis. Except the front bumper of course, I picked that up in England (Southampton). You will have to look good, that's true. But you can find everything. And you are always welcome!
