which is the one "we" want - E39 or E46? they are different sizes....

Here is the original group buy link for the US fascia, although I think its long over by now: http://www.mybimmer.net/Rover_MGZT_DBL-DIN.htm. You would probably have to re-negotiate to get the group buy price again.

If the fascia is olny going to be a cover then it does not require any flange to support a cage and therefore a simple moulding.

Has any one enquired of an injection moulding company how much the cost of tooling would be to produce these?

It could provide an item that does not require modification, cheaper than the US ones and give a ready source of supply.

The E46 is the last 3 series, pre-2005, the current 3-series is E90 and they are totally different and useless for these purposes.
