Default What is the best head unit for under £100

I'm in the market to upgrade my head unit from the IVOX CD-80 unit I have to something a little better.

I have a low budget of £100 and if possible would like some sort of MP3 or WMA playback.

Your opinions and thoughts are appreciated.

have a look through the for sale items on here and also .org.

There are plenty of branded mid range bits that have been taken out for upgrades....

Thanks Greeners.

I'm more after what makes are good at different price ranges.

JVC do some really cheap head units but I've never heard any do have no idea of the quality.

Is it worth saving up and spending more on an alpine setup or can the same quality be had for less money with a different make?
(I had an alpine setup in my Hona Accord and it was quite good)

Hi Steve,
I've just fitted a Pioneer DEH5000UB, which is a CD/MP3/USB/Radio player with adjustable display colours (so it matches the other instruments), and an output to drive a subwoofer.

You may have to pay a shade over £100, I paid £110, on-line I've seen it as low as £105.
It's a really good unit, and sounds fantastic!

I like the look of that one as the USB connection is on the rear so I would plug in an extender lead and put the USB device in the glove box. Much nicer than some that have a USB socket on the front.

Also at £101 from Amazon it's close enough to my price point. I'll definitely be keeping this in mind.

That's just what I've done Steve, the unit is supplied with a USB extension lead that easily reaches the glovebox.
I've just bought a couple of 8GB USB sticks from Amazon for storing loads of music :-), and with my subwoofer and rear tweeters now fitted, it sounds just great!

Incidentally, the USB port is capable of charging the battery in an MP3 player, so you have the option of playing directly from your MP3 player if you wish.

Pete.
