Default Do I need a new MAP sensor?

The story so far - Had a high power momentary misfire on my 1.8T when accelerating at full throttle in 4th gear at about 4,000 rpm. Yes I like to have fun occasionally. Checked the ECU fault codes and found P0106 = MAP sensor out of range. I removed the sensor a few days later and found it was wet with what looked like engine oil. I am thinking this may indicate that the turbo is leaking oil into the inlet, although oil consumption is low and there is no blue smoke in the exhaust. My car has done 80,000 miles and is on the original turbo. I have always changed the oil every 12 months to prolong engine and turbo life. Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated.

Are you sure the boost control solenoid is working correclty? Or the the more common vacuum pipes that connect it to the wastegate? Causes overboost at around 4000rpm And the ecu cuts fuel to protect the engine, then will resume up to redline.

I have changed the boost control solenoid but it has not made any difference. The pipes are original and look OK with no deterioration visible. Would a defect in the solenoid or pipes give a P0106 fault?

Check carefully the wiring to where it enters the MAP sensor plug

Common fault on the 1800T, I have experienced this on several occasions.

Big bump! Think this is my problem- the wires are very brittle and one is, I'm fairly sure, snapped but don't want to tug it! What do I actually need to do to sort it? I'm a bit useless so simple directions needed!
Thanks,
Mike
