Default WinCE DD - FM radio de-tuning problem

I listen mostly to radio in the car, so this is really beginning to bug me.

In all the time I've had the WinCE DD unit (with the updated menus), the radio function has been faultless. Ok, the lack of RDS is a pain, but reception has been fine, until a couple of weeks ago.

I have an hour each way daily commute along the same roads I've always taken, so nothing has changed there... but several times during my journey the radio de-tunes from the selected radio station (usually Radio 2). By that I mean instead of 89.1FM, it changes itself to something else 89.4FM for example... there's nothing at that frequency, so it's not even a case of finding a stronger signal elsewhere.

Why it's suddenly started I've no idea.
I don't recall changing any settings, but I suppose I could have pressed something by accident.

Any ideas?

I had a Wince DD unit and the radio was blinking hopeless suffering the same issue and never resolved it, switched back to the luxury valve sound of a Symphony . That said not all are bad and one thought could be the aerial connection, they do break away from the rear screen at the connection point, worth removing the rear internal panel and taking a look. Driver side from memory unless I am corrected.

Ok, thanks Parker, worth a shot.
I'll try to find and check the aerial connection then... mine's a tourer, so not sure if it would be in the same place.

The 75 tourer and the ZT-T has the aerial amplifier located above the off side load window.

The aerial elements are located on the off side load window.

My DD does the same thing. My work around is I have two memory slots on the same channel. When it detunes I switch to the other, then I press on the detuned memory slot and lock it back to the correct frequency so I have two on the same channel again.

Hope that makes sense.

I get the same problem, your unit should have AF or LOC option. Make sure either of those options are switched on, you then shouldn't need to manually retune.

I know I'm bumping an old thread here... but I hate incomplete/abandoned threads.

Just to say that I no longer have the problem. Since removing the battery and charging it up a few weeks back, the problem disappeared overnight. Whether it was the battery disconnect that solved it, or was low battery voltage or purely coincidental, I don't know. Only mentioning it in case it helps someone else in the same boat.

Interesting, I have fitted a few of these 2 din units, never really had the radio de tune issue appear BUT I recently bought an Erisin 2 din (is really cheap and good bang for the buck)
Wired it up and the radio firstly had terrible reception and was swapping channels all over the place. Finally found that unlike my other older 2 din units, this unit required that power to the Rovers radio aerial (purple /yellow wire) needs to be connected via a blue wire on the 2 din labelled "Antenna /sub " on pin 5 of the grey ISO plug.
That fixed the poor reception so next I replaced the boot logo on the unit to a MG logo.
All seemed ok but everytime I switched the car off and the radio was on FM channels, next time it was switched back on the radio always reverted back to the AM radio band.
Finally found out changing the units logo from the factory one to a custom one alters somthing in the system,
Found that if I went into the "sounds" menu and selected a reset it seemed to fix the issue and the FM remains in place.
