I don`t power the unit down on either my Nav 2 or Nav3, just turn engine off. The 2 starts up back to the radio station I was listening to and the Nav 3 returns to the DAB radio station I was listening to.

I most often forget to power mine down, but in any case, I struggle to see the practicality of this instruction. Even if you do power down as instructed, doesn't the unit only partially power down? Unless you wait 5 minutes or so for it to do a full power down.

I have never actually timed the shutdown time, but I know it is less than 30 seconds, I see the lights on either side of the CD insert area flash, then turn key off.
As android is an operating system, my thoughts would be along the lines of.....do you just turn your computer off at the wall, as in main power switch? Probably not!
Why would a car stereo with an operating system be any different?

Hi Tom , I Agree , Please do a hard reboot, sounds like something with Firmware

I have done that.

I will definitely try no reversing until the head unit has completed the boot up process.

Also tried that.

I remember reading in the instructions when I got the unit, that it should be powered down before turning the car off.
If we don't do this, is this having a detrimental effect on the system?

Tried that as well, the end result after trying all the above useful suggestions is that I still have the problem.

Any further suggestions please?

Regards

Tom.

I've never timed it either, and 30 seconds can seem like a long time to stare at a blank screen, so you could well be right, but if you switch the unit off, and then a short time later switch it back on, it will do only a very short reboot.
I get your point about computer power supplies, but in this case, it still has a permanent 12v supply, unless you disconnect the battery.

So far of two days of turning the radio off first before the car.
I have had no problems. But will see how it goes before I call it a result.
Have called my radio the paranoid android.

It sounds to me there is a wiring issue, there should be a power source that remains after engine switch of to retain the memory, in effect putting the unit in standby. In instances whereby this is not in place it is just like switching your TV of at the wall.

Just a thought no expert on these particular units but my Xtrons had to be wired in this way to retain memory.

There is a permanent live feed to the radio as in most radios.
but this is to keep the stored info . As in radio stations and setting's.

Cool

I've given up with mine. The Satnav calmly told me I had arrived at my destination. I was in the right hand turn lane in Perth, 90 miles short of my destination. I do not use any of the apps or have down loaded any. Rarely ever use the Bluetooth. No cameras fitted. And I always let it warm up before pulling away, and let it power down before taking the key out.

Even the radio has a mind of it's own constantly searching for the station I'm actually listening to. Only had it fitted, as I had won it at the National last year.

it's in Banana so not sure if it needs the wiring checked or I need a new arieal.
