Battery disconnected for 4 hours, but surprisingly the unit did not lose the radio stations.

Head Unit switched off and wait for 30 seconds before ignition off.

Wait to engage reverse gear until the unit is up and running, but still the problem exists.

Tried the front panel reset button, pressing this for a few seconds switches the unit off, when released the unit reboots but no settings have been lost.

Where to now?

Regards

Tom.

As I remember these older units have a seperate memory which gets sort of flashed onto a chip internally everytime shutdown occurs.
I found this out as I had a unit which had a faulty bluetooth and it had to be re flashed so found out a bit of info re these units.
Had my unit do somthing similar some time ago but think I got it sorted eventually pressing the NAVI button a few times.
The unit may settle down and be ok but if the startup function memory gets in a loop could be a pain to reset.
You can do a factory reset as there is a small button on the front but you could risk getting the whole reset back in chinese although there is a factory setting menu with a password (mine was 0000) which may give you access to the units options.

Even the radio has a mind of it's own constantly searching for the station I'm actually listening to. Only had it fitted, as I had won it at the National last year.

it's in Banana so not sure if it needs the wiring checked or I need a new arieal.

as for the radio searching for stations that could be down to a setting on the fm radio.

that's 3 days of switching off before the engine and so far its worked fine .

Hi Steve,

I've done the factory reset twice so far and lost nothing on each occasion.

I'll give it another go tomorrow and post the result.

But the thing that is worrying me most is I still have the problem and no idea what to try next.

Regards

Tom.

Just a thought did you do a reset or a factory reset .
factory reset means going in to the settings pages. .
just a rest is the little pin hole button or a long press on the off/on button

Like all software you can get conflicts or the information is read wrong from time to time.
I'm still trying to work out where my lp fit in the radio.

I had only done a front panel reset, but have now gone into settings and done a factory data reset.

Got everything working again except Navi. Can someone please advise on how to set the gps path?

Regards

Tom.
