Default Anyone know what this key is for?

Hi guys. I'm a newbie who's just purchased a mint, low mileage silver ZT 180 with full MOT for next to nothing and so far it drives faultlessly and every single electrical item works perfectly.
I have found a tiny key in the glove box and have no idea what it could be for. Maybe it's an alarm over ride key? Anyone have an idea at all?

Looks like a high security ignition key for a 1984 Lada Riva........certainly nothing for your average Rover or MG

Default Strange key

I agree the item is unlikely to be anything to do with the car. But I also have a 2003 Silver ZT 180 so would be interested to hear more about your new acquisition, like mileage and fitted extras etc. Welcome to the club!

Thanks guys. It does look a bit small and fiddly to be car related but as it was in the car I assumed it must've been. I'll have another look around today to see if there is anything small enough for the key.

Hi Tracket. My ZT 180 seems pretty standard. I'm no expert on MGs to be honest, this being my first. I'm usually a Subaru or Alfa man to be honest.
It's got 96000 miles with no visible dents and just very light surface scratches that will probably Tcut out.
The alloys are unkerbed but being picky they have lost there shine and could do with a refurb.
The interior is in excellent condition but the only thing I have noticed is the seats are hard to adjust sometimes. As I'm the only driver this doesn't matter as its set to suit me now.
For what I paid it seems a bargain but time will tell. ☺

I think you're right – by the most amazing coincidence, I’m doing a massive spring clean in my house at the moment, and found an identical key yesterday, in a drawer!

I *think* it’s many years old, from an ASTRA GSI I had about 15 years ago maybe… pretty sure it long pre-dates the Rover...

Ahhh yes I remember those aerial keys. This is very similar to one of those.
I've had a quick look around the MG this morning and can't see anything that it would fit.
I wont bin it though cos as soon as I do that it'll come to light for what it's for.

I did chuckle when I saw it because actually says "key" on it lol. Just in case people didn't know what a key was I guess.
