Default The Wheel Specialist (Farnborough)

Since last summer, I have had a total of 11 wheels refurbished by The Wheel Specialist in Farnborough: 1 set Serpents (+ spare); 1 set Meteors (+ spare), plus one Serpent recently redone when I curbed it driving out from a petrol station.

Each time they have done a first rate job, so when my wife curbed one of the diamond cut alloys on her new Hyundai I had no hesitation it taking it to them to sort out. Being diamond cut rather than just powder coated, it was going to be a little more expensive: £150 (an expensive mistake).

Went over to collect the wheel today and the manager said he wanted to show me something on the wheel before putting it on the car. Sounds ominous! He then pointed out to me a very small area of clear coat that had gone "milky". It looked to me that it had perhaps been applied a little too thickly in this one area, right on the edge of the rim about half an inch long and an eighth of an inch wide. Irritating, but not really a big deal in the great scheme of things (afterall, it's not like it was my Rover!). He then told me I had 2 options:

1) they would re-finish the wheel; or

2) I could take it as it was for no charge in view of my previous business with them.

To say I was pleased with the outcome is an understatement. The wheel looks so much better than before and the "milky" spot is very minor - hard to notice until it's pointed out:

They may not be the cheapest wheel refurbishers (no where 'round these parts is ever cheap), but their customer service is spot on, their workshops are spotless and their work is (usually!) first rate.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but just felt the need to shout about some excellent service delivered by the motor trade.

Cliff

Standard powder coat finish is £95 per wheel (whole wheel is stripped, repaired, powder coated front and back), Diamond cut finish is £150 per wheel.

They have money off promotions from time to time, so worth keeping an eye out if you're in no particular hurry.

Cool

They are a franchise. I had them re-furbish the wheels on my first V8 down at Ferndown in Dorset. Ian "Redfive", had been into the Wheel Specialist and set up a deal if you was the owner of a 75/ZT. Ian had the Kahn's done on Redfive and I, had the straights done on Blue Thunder. Unfortunately they mucked up my centre caps. But other than that they done a terrific job.

No idea if the deal is still ongoing in Ferndown.

I wonder what they would say if they saw the state of my Crowns

I have assumed most places wouldn't touch them and I'd best get a more decent set to refurbish, but maybe they would take them on?

After all, who couldn't resist the challenge of the scabbiest wheels known to man?

No Wheel Refurbishment company will turn down a challenge. Get them done and cheer the old girl, car that is, up.

If you e-mail them a photo, ([email protected]) they'll let you know if they're suitable for refurbing. I agree with Bob though, I'd be very surprised if they couldn't sort them.
