Default TOAF messed odometer instuments panel

Dear forum members

Today i have played around with TOAF, and now the odometer part of the instrument cluster seems dead(dont see anything on it when i turn the key to pos2 or drive the car.

In TOAF, in the IKE part i played around with some settings like trip computer activate , trip1 activate, digital speedometer.

I saved the setting and then i noticed the odometer-screen on the instrument cluster was not showing anything..Before changing here the settings i did a insturmnetal cluster test and then it was working..After changing the settings, i did the test again , all parts of the cluster was in testmode(all lights shown and speedometer dial is going up and down etc those were fine) but the odometer screen was showing nothing.

The error i get in IKE : ike-eeprom error, coding incorrect/incomplete

Its a cdt 2.0 from 2005 driving on Dutch roads.

I think either activating something(like tripcomputer) that its not onboard will corrupt IKE or writing to IKE in TOAF is corrupting IKE.

Any help would be very appreciated. Don't need an extra trauma in my life right now

Attached are the pictures of the setting i have currently

Restore your backup. You did make a backup before changing anything didn't you? You can try the TOAF forum for help as well.

You have altered one byte of data to enable the message centre digital speedometer, sadly you have a lowline IPK and this function is not supported.

I would suggest that you need to use something like BMW Scan 1.4 and read the content of the IPK eeprom, then alter the byte back to it's original value.

I'll take a look at a lowline IPK dump and see what the original value is, and let you know the location.

If he didn't back it up, I can if he supplies me his full VIN, and the cars ZCS coding data and current mileage, programme a virgin lowline IPK with his data, then Email a TOAF backup of the correct file.

A generous offer of your time.

We live and learn. Luckily in this case there's a nice man happy to help out. Remember - if it can go wrong, it very probably will go wrong. Prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. (Now you know always to backup before any changes!)

Default IPK TOAF backup

Here you go Jan, hopefully you should be able to download and unzip the attached file, then restore it using TOAF.

If all else fails, I can desolder the eeprom and post it to you to solder in.

Let me know how you get on
