Default a different heater problem

thought it would be easier to start this thread rather than add on to the similar one below

ive had heater problems for ages
ive tryed everything listed on this forum
*cleaned matrix
*replaced matrix
*flushed system several times

my temperature levels read normal and both pipes to and fro matrix are hot as normal, my windscreen air is warm but everything else is luke warm or worse

what i want to know is could this be a flap problem, aka the flap motor or flap itself is stuck and wont open to let the warm air blow through the vents?

id so any ideas where and how i get to the motor/flap?

thanks
Gareth

If the matrix itself is getting hot - and I mean HOT, then it's an air distribution issue (ie flaps control). However, I'd still suspect the primary heat supply, ie matrix. Are both heater hoses untouchable when it's up to running temp?

There are two that opperate the flaps, eather side of the footwell thease can be heard working if you get your head close enough.

on some models the Distrabution motor is in the drivers footwell.
also check the blower motor in in footwell drivers side and the resistors are working

Gareth,

Do you have the ATC (automatic temperature control) air conditioning system?

Is the airflow (as opposed to the temperature of the air) normal from the vents?

Is the heater fan operating normally at all its speeds?

Simon.

yes yes and yes

its the digital dual climate control unit with air-con and auto etc
ive just had a wee read through the haynes manual and will have a look at all three motors, distribution, recirculation and temperature
fingers crossed

cant think what else would cause it

couldnt be an air lock if temperature is normal and everything bar hot air works?

The heat's obviously coming into the matrix. It's not warming any air to heat the cab. Either an air blower or a direction flap seems to be preventing that happening.

Does setting the system manually (turn off 'Auto'), make any difference ? (Set to hot then to car not screen). If ATC thinks car is too hot it won't try to heat it. There is an internal temperature sensor somewhere on the car.
