You won't regret it Gryphon, it really is an excellent combination. The Carlack-68 will last 6 months before it needs re-done and the beauty of its formula is that it will remove all the layers of old wax when you re-apply it so no need for any abrasive polishes.

Never put a sealant on top of a pure wax. It will cause yellowing and you'll have to polish the whole lot off. Carlack-68 or Klasse All in One are widely acknowledged as the best base products to build on. Even if the wax is allowed to degrade over time, the acrylic base coat laid down by the carlack-68 remains solid. It makes the car easier to wash and wax and gives you a much better "after wash" shine.

can i just throw another wax in to the melting pot...
Victoria Collectors Wax is also excellent. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/vi.../prod_309.html and if you have a few quid to burn the Pinacle Souveran is worth a shot too. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/pi...an/prod_8.html //edit - and a side note, the finish is all in the preparation. it is not possible to polish a . make sure the paint is clayed/cleansed/sealed before waxing. Cosmetics for cars. And like the cosmetics industry, you pay more for the marketing, packaging and hype than you do for the stuff itself. And like cosmetics, devotees of one particular brand swear by it and will use nothing else. The formulas and ingredients of all these polishes are basically the same. Some do have those 'special extras' that place them ahead of the others in one subtle aspect or another, but none are actually worth ten times more than their competitors. That's where the marketing comes in. And once you believe that, you pay.

Turns out this is the same company i was about to do an order with Carsparkle this morning and noticed he is only a few miles away so jumped in the 75 and away i went. The owner has just moved into his new premises this weekend and is just sorting things out. Seem a nice guy who knows what he is talking about. Even though he was very busy he took time to talk to me for about 20 mins. He showed me some photo's of some before and after shots he had personally done himself (These can be seen on his web site) the difference was amazing check out the Renault Megane in the gallery http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/gallery/info_12.html So now it's going to cost me a few bob for lambswool mitts P21S Carlack 68 systematic care Posh car wash oh and a couple of new microfibre cloths. Wont be done for 2-3 weeks but when it is i will put some before and after pic's on here. |

Just one more thing before this thread slips away - EGP.
I've been using Autoglym EGP for a while, thinking of it as a sealant because that's the way it was recommended to me - EGP to seal, followed by a coat of a pure wax such as P21S to finish. But this thread got me thinking, and so I had a closer look at the back of the bottle and it says its active ingredients are waxes, so is putting a wax over the top of it a bit redundant?
