A couple of EEPROM questions.
I have been playing with EEPROM's and have a few questions.
Question 1 What's the difference between : 93s56 93c56 93cs56 93lcs56 Question 2 Why is it necessary to virginise an EEPROM when fitting a used IPK, if you have for instance an EZP2010 programmer why can't you simply copy the memory from one chip to another. Just curious. Pete. |

I think the security programing goes into a protected area??
From what I understand the copy / paste of the .bin does not cover this... thus a copy of the old eeprom bin will not work but physically moving the eeprom to the new IPK (with the protected area on board) will. Virginisation wiped the protected area of the "new" ipk so that a T4 can fill in the new cars security details, if it is not virginised the old details can not be over written..

Thanks Klarzy.
As I understand it a virgin bin can be written to a new EEPROM then? Do you know the difference between the types? Pete. |

I have aquired the Soci clip to connect directly to the EEPROM but I am waiting for the programmer interface to arrive from the far east so I can start my own learning...

With regards to the new EEPROM, yes a virgin bin can be written, but you still need a T4 to write the security data which needs live comms between the LSM,ECU and immobiliser to work (otherwords needs to be done on the car) unless you are Phil T4 or Brian with the little grey cells to do it in a coal mine khazi half a mile underground using 2 sticks of chewing gum and a half burnt candle) McGyver eat your heart out..

All interesting stuff.
I have the clip which works well off board, no luck on board though, board taking power I think. |
