Default Cruise control actuator is in pieces...

Rover 75 auto, 2.5 KV6, 130k Km, runs like a dream. But:
I foolishly removed my cruise control actuator without making a diagram.
It worked fine before I removed it.
The black end cap has come off, and the green plastic shaft is loose.
This black cap has a strange, quartered screw pattern.

How does one re-assemble the above actuator?

And, more important, where should the vacuum hose (shown) connect to?
Is it OK to plumb into the crankcase breather system, or does it require its own vacuum source?
