Default 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.0RE *SOLD*

2006 '56' plate Subaru Legacy 2.0 RE £1500 OVNO

For sale due to the desire to return to an automatic car.

I have very much enjoyed my ownership of this car, with its combination of comfort, handling, and practicality making it a very compelling ownership prospect.

The car has a very comprehensive history file, with all of it carried out by garages prior to my ownership, and subsequently, I have done basic servicing, while a local garage has fitted new front discs, pads, and a brake caliper in the last two weeks.

The cambelt, which is an expensive job, was changed around 30,000 miles ago, by the previous owner, and as such, is not due for a long time. In my ownership, I have had a stainless steel exhaust made, at a cost of £480, which has a lifetime guarantee. Exhausts are a real weak spot of these cars, and the fact that it has been replaced on this example means you will never need worry about it again.

Additionally, unlike many cars at this end of the market, it has four matching Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres, which I had fitted about 8000 miles ago, and still have a lot of tread. I had the wheels refurbished just after purchasing the car, but unfortunately, they have suffered as a result of the winter, though they do still look smart.

The interior of the car is in good condition, having never been smoked in, and appears never to have carried dogs, unlike most Subarus. As such, it feels a very clean, and pleasant car. It is well equipped, with leather upholstery, heated front seats, and an electric driver’s seat. Additionally, it has a CD player, and cruise control, which I’ve found very useful!

The bodywork is in good condition, but please do bear in mind that the car has covered 148,000 miles. The paintwork has a good shine, and looks excellent overall. The rear bumper has a large scuff on one corner, which has been there throughout my ownership. There are smaller scuffs on the other extremities of the bumpers, but they don’t really detract from the car’s very smart appearance. There are a few stone chips at the front, and there is a small chip in the windscreen, on the passenger side, which hasn’t got any worse in my ownership.

Mechanically, the car’s oil is golden; it has had the filters changed, and a new pollen filter. The car has brand new front brake discs, and a new brake caliper. The exhaust, as mentioned has been replaced in my ownership with a stainless steel item that is very refined. The car starts keenly, and appears healthy. There are no nasty noises from the suspension, but obviously it is an older car, so you must make your own judgement.

The car has a towbar fitted, which I have only used once to tow a small trailer with garden rubbish. The mileage is not the lowest, but these cars are capable of a lot more. There is a fantastic sunroof, which is huge, and great on sunny days. The four wheel drive system is amazing, the car rides exceptionally well, and the handling is wonderful. If you've never driven one, you'll be amazed.

As with all cars, there are a few points of note that I must make any prospective purchaser aware of:

The car has done 148,000 miles, so there are stonechips, and other marks consummate with age on the body.
There is a scratch to the driver’s seat, but it is not torn.
The boot carpet appears to be slightly broken, as it makes a funny noise if you put a lot of shopping in the boot.
Very occasionally, there is a little clutch judder in reverse. The car had a new clutch and dual mass flywheel when the previous owner bought it, though I have not got a receipt to substantiate it.
Note that unlike most 56 plate Subarus, this one falls into the £290 tax band, not the horrendous £500 a year one. So, it’s not a dear car to run.

Overall, it’s a lovely car, and I shall miss it dearly. The car can be viewed any day by prior arrangement, and I am happy to discuss the car on the phone with any interested parties.

Obviously, this is a private sale, and as such, the car is sold as seen, with no warranty given, or implied. The car will revert to its original plate which is SK56 OGN.
