Rubber bushes and grease
Is it ok to get grease on rubber bushes from that i mean will it degrade the rubber. Have graphite grease and also the general purpose stuff for wheel bearings etc. What's best for pressing bushes back into the housing? Also does waxoyl affect rubber bushes?

It is ok to get a small amount on as it will wash off in time. I would not use grease to fit bushes unless it is silicon grease or one that will not affect rubber. The best lubricant is washing up liquid or liquid soap. No idea about waxoyl.

My wife has a legitimate reason for carrying such substances around in the back of the tourer, more to the point, there is also a pair of 44DD knitted women's breasts in there too. That's much more of a talking point if they're spotted during a shopping trip to Tesco Brian |

For those of you who have a delicate nature (obviously not you Brian ) silicone grease, as Steve says, will do fine.
Knitted breasts? That's a new one on me. |

I wouldn't use washing up liquid for the salt reason given, car shampoo would be a better option if nothing better is to hand. As said, KY Jelly is better still and depending on the size and nature of the job I also have a bottle of Hellerine Lubricant - not cheap but I got it foc.
