Default Lilliput car PCs and monitors

Anyone any experience of these units?

The car pc in particular seems tempting.

Lilliput is a brand?

Do you have a link?

I've never got around to finishing my car computer. It's been so long now the chip on it is quite dated.

Lilliput screens have a very good reputation amoungst the Carputer bods out there, can't vouch for the spec/detail of their computers though, that is a mighty small looking pc case!

Lilliput motorised screens did have a bad reputation at getting stuck soon after purchase though ...

I've seen that advertised by Chinese company but slightly deviated by name. I can’t remember the manufacturer but it was advertised as a media station. I think it had 200htz processor.
I've noticed a few Chinese companies produce the same item but by a different name. Not sure what the differences are, I've not tested.

At the price advertised on that link, I would rather build a car-com myself at a far lower price. Not only is it cheaper but it will be more powerful and more able to upgrade knowing the abilities. Also, depending on the motherboard, it could be upgraded.

But still, I would like to get my hands on a Lilliput unit. It still looks like a neat package.

The PC itself is about £300 plus carriage. Its a 1Ghz processor, 40Ghz drive, 512 M ram, DVD/CDRW etc.

I think its a pretty good spec for a car PC. Its big advantage is its size of course.

Is it possible to build a small PC for that knid of money? I think to go this small you need integrated processors/motherboards so upgrading may be somewhat limited.

I was looking at an original Rover sat nav install , but for less money I can have a full PC system.

1 year ago I started to make a car pc. I have a commell motherboard (17x17 cm) with a P478 2.8 ghz processor. 256mb ram (upto 1 gig) vga, composite output, 60gb 2.5in hd.
So far it has cost me about £200. All I need (and never got round to buying) is the psu and case

I think it all depends on what you want from a car computer. For me, I want a music collection at hand and a few other things like Excel and media player

I've got a few inputs spare on my kenwood touch screen headunit - i wonder if the PC would work through the headunit and retain the touchscreen capabilities?
