It depends on how good a job you want? Mine will be going to this chap shortly for some sill work. I'm just waiting for a garage to do some mechanical stuff for me first. He does vintage cars, and I've seen what he can do, but I haven't had mine priced yet to give you an idea of cost.

We can do it if you fancy a trip across the land, you would have to leave it overnight though as you never can tell how bad it is until you start cutting the nasty stuff away.

That'll be a good proper job.
I've saw some terrible welding by mechanics in garages to get cars through an MOT.
The last time I was in getting tyres fitted I could hear the mig popping and spattering & says to the wee fella fitting them your mates welding is terrible, he says how do you know I said I can hear its rubbish to which he just looked blankly at me and carried on fitting my tyres.

I've not long bought a new MiG as I've a trailer to build and some repairs to do on an accident damaged car.

Thanks very much for the info chaps.

What would you say was a 'ball-park' figure for a long lasting plated job around the back of the sill/ jacking point area probably 12" x 4"??

You would be looking at £200 - £250 to remove, and replace with a piece of good sill, fill, prime, protect and paint.
