Default Boating on the Fens

Hi All,

To commemorate us boating types joining the caravan forum here are some pictures of my cruising area on the Fenland waterways. For any boat spotters amongst you my boat is a 1964 Seamaster 25 with original Ford Zephyr engine. It has been in the family for 50 years now and still going strong.

Does anyone else go boating/fishing/caravanning around the Fens?

Great photos Mike........and here was I thinking that the River Ant was narrow in places

Some good navigational skills involved in parts of that river

Thanks Jeff,

The problem with the narrow lode at Wicken Fen is meeting a boat coming the other way. I send a crew member (Jane) off in the dinghy with a phone to the end and wait for the all clear before setting off!

Have you gone down Limekiln Dyke off Barton Broad to Neatishead yet as that makes the Ant look wide? One of my first adventures on the Broads was taking a 36ft hire cruiser down there and then having to reverse into the mooring at the end. There is a good pub there to make it worthwhile

I haven't yet been to Neatished but it is on my to do list

It's nice and narrow at Acle Marina as our mooring is right at the end tucked away in the Marina basin , dead slow is the order of the day
