Default chirrups!

My MGZT180 SE+ sport Auto(phew)! continues to surprise me, its started to 'chirrup'
every now and again when remotely locked/unlocked-not anywhere near a regular occurrence just now and again. Is this a facility we all have or just wet/cold conditions do you think? Checked for nesting squirrels and any other livestock, nothing. Chris S.

A chirrup sound will be the alarm sounder telling you that an open/close door sensor isn't working properly IIRC

Check the bonnet sensor first, the usual culprit and work from there

Thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Re-direct left in old. This may be the better forum as threads get ‘lost’ very quickly in the General Forum.

In the recent very cold weather mine became convinced a door was open (interior lights on, and dash warning light for door open on).

Because it thought a door was open, it gave a short beep when locking the doors with the remote.

I was unable to work out which door, and as soon as it warmed up a little the problem went away.

So I assume a door switch is freezing somewhere, causing it to stick. But I didn't think they were mechanical switches on the doors, nor are they visible.

Does anyone know how to get to the door switches to check which one if any is sticking?

Mike

Before you start taking the doors apart; it'll be worth while to give them all a good spray with WD40 (in all the nooks and crannys, gaps you see etc); let that do it's job of repelling any water that's in there and releasing any cack build up and then respray, this time with lithium grease

This should grease everything up nicely and it'll work normally from there

If the issue still happens, then now you know you need to dig deeper!

Don't forget to do the boot catch as well and give the bonnet sensor a once-over to see if it's sticking etc

Default Electric wing mirrors.

My MGZT 180 Sport SE+ auto has electric mirrors- below the right/left/up/down buttons there are two buttons. Each can be be illuminated by pressing and a red light comes on. Question: what do these buttons do and why does the last one pressed stay on, is it anything to do with heating/demisting the mirrors? Thank you for your time. Chris S.

They are the switches to select which mirror moves right/left/up/down, and stays in the position for that mirror until you switch to the other one.
