Did not do a lot today, but managed to give Goldie a good clean. The first for three weeks. Got a service kit for the alternator, so will be having a go at fitting new contacts in the solenoid.

Default Fitting a dashcam, get power from near mirror

I had a dashcam lying around for a while, but a couple of incidents recently sparked me in to action to actually fit it. Will mount with a suction cup high up more or less out of my line of sight behind the mirror. Now I need to power it with 12V.... is there a convenient switched power wire up there inside the courtesy light module?

Yep, there is that but it's the short time your butt freezes before your posterior is on fire. Leather looks great but I don't really like it from a comfort point of view.

Nothing today...

But only had it since Tuesday and so far:

  • Thoroughly cleaned the inside to my daft OCD levels!
  • New interior mats
  • Replaced side repeater and sidelight bulbs
  • Refurbished headlights with PlasticX and a decent drill attachment mop-head
  • Uprated the stereo to a Kenwood Bluetooth head-unit (single DIN), microphone in small cubby above it
  • Thoroughly cleaned the spare wheel well out and resprayed the bottom in satin black; spare wheel removed and a decent 'tyre'weld' kit fitted, in its place
  • Rubber boot mat ordered
  • Engine bay cleaned & detailed
  • Done the bonnet opening cable block mod and loosened off the latches so they don't jam

To do... LOADS! Watch this space

Check Plenums, Shannon Tube , Hand Brake and change pollen filter ,advise to fit a catch tank as they do work, check in the V for coolant leaking and fit a digital temp gauge via Bus connections.

Welcome to the V6 world

Already done most of that thanks; I'm not new to ZTs, just not had one for a while

  • Plenums already sorted
  • Shannon tube not an issue as I've sorted a cold air system of sorts with a direct feed (but away from water ingress)
  • Pollen filter waiting to be fitted
  • Handbrake works very well currently; so not sure if it's already been fettled, but will look to sort the modded compensator further down the line
  • Catch tank; never had issues before so will leave it for now
