Found - OAT resistant silicone hoses
These have been discussed on a number of threads and I thought I'd share the info I've had from SFS Performance Silicone Hoses.
I posed the question on their facebook page Quote:

If anyone is interested, their website is at http://www.siliconhose.com/content.a...otorsportparts If anyone has been through this before, it would be interesting to know what quantity of what parts would be needed. We could then look at pricing for the whole kit & kaboodle. |

Have you any references to silicone hoses being unsuitable with AOT antifreeze?
AOT is standard on a wide range of cars now, so I'm astounded that these hoses are sold so widely without any warnings. TC |

From what I have now read, the concern is based on the use of OAT in classic (cast iron) engines, where some owners want to use silicone hoses in the cooling system. The historical reports stemming from the GM mass action era when OAT was implicated to fail rubber (silicone?) seals in certain engines, is the basis for recommendations to use IOT antifreezes and not OAT types. I sense a degree of extrapolation on the part of retailers, who are no doubt fearful of committing themselves to advising that OAT and silicone hoses are OK. The SFS Performance Silicone Hoses assurance is most probably the only case of a direct OAT/silicone test. They found it safe, as one might anticipate. Their silicone polymer will be the same one used across the retail market. On that basis I'll be going ahead with my silicone swapping and continue the use of OAT antifreeze.
