You could have purchased an electric car, and been the proud owner of a battery.

Default Not just Rover/MG problem

Bought my last car Feb 2018 for £520 on eBay, 2004 PT Cruiser 2.0 Sport,

£239 - straight piped it with ProFlo stainless steel exhaust
£800 - for new clutch master and slave and fitting etc
£480 - timing belt and water pump and fitting etc
£400 - various small (sometimes used) items for MOTs etc.
£120 - two budget tyres/fitting

Very happy with it until the head gasket failed a few weeks ago... was quoted £632 to repair and booked her in but thought about it and decided it was time to part company. Found my 71200 miles, 3 owner 2000 75 1.8 at a reasonable £800 (bickered down from £950) FSH to 56k... and clean and dry.

All in all over 4 years/204 wks the PT cost me just over £12.50 per week...

Less scrap value £479 reduces that to £10.10 a week - good value and earns me my degree in bangernomics from the university f life.

A colleague has a Merc that went into limp home mode. Went to the main dealer for a diagnostic.

"That'll be £458 please."

"Oh ok, I suppose that's not too bad to fix it."

"No madam, that's for the diagnostic."

You couldn’t write it, £458 to tell her what she knew === it’s not working properly madam!
