Default New member in need of some help saving a ZT-T Cdti

Hi I'm new to the forum and have just acquired a 2005 Cdti Tourer

It has been parked up next to the sea for 8mths and is in need of saving from the scrap heap in the sky. I have carried out a service on the engine already as the PCV filter was totally blocked causing plooms of smoke

It looks solid enough and seems to drive ok it there's lots of niggly faults that need attention and I'm hoping members can point me in the right direction

1) Climate control panel is displaying "error"

2) Key will unlock the car remotely but won't lock it

3) dash/instrument panel won't display when the indicators and headlights etc are on (lights outside the car work fine)

4) Tailgate or glass won't open, if I disconnect the battery the boot and glass briefly will open

Your profile holds useless secrets, location listed as South, so instead of guiding you to your nearest T4 operator I can only direct you to a UK list to choose from, list here
but why not at least show your County if you have particular problems saying which town or city you live in?

Sounds like a bus fault. Which type of car do you have?

Just spent 30mins going over a couple of things and here's what I noticed

1) car Windows seem to mist up heavily suggesting water ingress

2) Boot area seems dry and the spare wheel area is dry

3) Climate control is sporadically working and only showing FC 00 which I believe means there aren't any faults

4) Headlights now seem to be on even when the switch is off

5) Passenger footwell area seems dry

6) My car doesn't seem to have a webasto heater or CD changer (CD changer plug in the boot does look corroded though)

Will check the bulkhead area later for water

Hi there, welcome, the first and most important thing to carry out before going on to anything else.

CHECK the PLENUMS and clear of debris and water etc, check the pollen filter there in if wet not level and replace, if plenums full of water, assume the ECU is been flooded, there lie all the immediate problems.
Please report back.

Just had a look at the plenum area and it had half an inch of water at the bottom, I could only see one main drain hole which was full of crud. I used a large threaded rod and cleaned all of the gunk out

Pollen filter was very dirty but seemed dry

I removed the battery for 30mins and now the car locks from the keyfob 😁
