help rear shocks
hi yesterday spent the afternoon changing the rear shocks after my bilstiens sprung a leak.all went well apart being a tourer all the back end had to come out .anyway drove it today and it sounds like it is about to fall apart the noise is awful their is a bad rattle . i am my wits end the only thing i think off have i over tightened the bottom bolts effectivley locking up the rear end ?i just did them up until the dynamic absorbers did not rotate.failing a cure for this anyone want to buy a ztt

quick update discovered the dynamic absorbers are freely rotating!two things has anyone changed the rears on a ztt only i am wondering if there is a spacer or washer under the head of the bolt?and no i have not missed any out please bare in mind my car has had the originals removed in the past so if their is somethink missing i will not be aware of it.and lastly what is the correct torq for the bottom bolts any help greatly received

Here's Rimmer's Tourer rear shocker diagram.
Lower mounting bolt (3) has washer (11) under its head. This bolt should be torqued to 114ftlb/155Nm Data from the Haynes manual. Are you sure the upper mounting is OK? I'd expect more rattle from there than the lower one. TC Last edited by T-Cut; 14th June 2011 at 18:15.. |

thanks for that dont remember there being a washer under the bolt head will check tomorrow.my mate has a tourer on the ramps tomorrow we can compare against.top mounts are defo done up tight i checked therm twice.i think the noise is coming from the dynamic bushes will get the bolts torqed up at the same time

Are the bolts a good fit in the sleeve.
Maybe the others shocks had smaller bolt holes !! |

all sorted took to my mates this morning got her up in the air cracked the bolts up to the correct torque no more rattle.it obvoiusly easeir to do this on a lift than me laying underneath armed with a rachet and a lenght of scaffold pole
