We've just sold our 50th Metal Slave, with none returned as faulty.
We first got them in some time ago - will be about 6-7 months ago from memory. Certainly better than LUK's record in that time - although they're better than expected, we still have the odd LUK failure.

Hi Mat,
To me the weak point is the seal ,not the body . Do you know what kind of seal is fitted in the metal slave ? I fear they are all the same ... I you can show it has been improved,i purchase one (still a air ingress in my circuit,no fluid loss !) Mike Last edited by FrenchMike; 9th February 2016 at 13:04.. |

Lol just to clarify its not my driving. I don't ride clutch besides 3 of the 4 failures are hydraulic not friction plate so driving style is irrelevant.
Mike I think I may have similar prob to you. I cannot detect a fluid leak and the reservoir still has fluid in, but the bite point is erratic and feels like pressure loss at the pedal I've noticed that the tube to the bleed nipple on the slave waggles about loosely, I'm wondering if the slave has been damaged during transmission fitting. Is anyone else's like this? why would the pedal only go soft with engine running? This makes no sense for me. What I'm trying to do is establish what are all the best components as I am going to change flywheel, clutch, slave, master in one hit and do the work myself so I can see what is happening. Then if it's still no good this pig of a car is going to get turned into a tumble dryer |

See how i have solved (fingers crossed) the thing (cutting + compression joint ) A mere air bubble in the circuit and the pedal becomes soft (engine running or not, nonsense effectively) I'm as perplex as you about the choice of parts now Difficult to find out a tiny air ingress (normally impossible since the pressure is positive) If i could pinpoint the true cause,i would like sharing... Now ,i understand why at the origin ,master and slave were delivered prefilled ..(and tested) Mike Last edited by FrenchMike; 9th February 2016 at 18:03.. |

Yea the inlet pipe on the slave is firm, the bleed side wobbles everywhere, suspect it is damaged then and probably source of leak or air ingress
Whoever came up with the idea of slave inside the box is a right **** |

A number of the slaves have shown complete disintegration, due to poor driving habits and lack of sympathy. My clutch had probably done 94K when I got the car and since then has done 5 years without replacement, much of it towing. I did though replace the master, with a TAZU metal master, due to wear of the eye and to improve the feel of the clutch.
