Bad car vibration over 70 mph
Hi
I hope you can help me. A few weeks ago my front spring collapsed (thank God on the driveway and overnight). Replaced: top bearings, springs, arms + bushes , track rod ends and tyres. Car was barely drivable – shaking quite badly. Rebalanced all wheels + done all wheels alignment (good place, done before – no probs) Car drives like on rails but still vibrates through body (not the steering wheel) and vibration comes sort of in waves i.e. becomes more and more noticeable then eases off a bit and then stronger again. I'm a bit lost what might be causing this. Quite annoyed especially after changing all that (over 2 weekends in my driveway). Please help. Andrew |

I was getting this problem too and after alignments balancing etc. I decided to change the tyres and remove the brands on he back I'd never heard of (suspect they were cheapies) and replaced them with Dunlop and the ride transformed overnight. Since changed them to Continentals and even better.

I had a similar vibration problem and it turned out to be a worn n/s inner driveshaft joint , changed it for a new one and problem gone, worth looking at as you seem to have done everything else

Lower engine mount could need replacing, common issue.

Could it be the roof strengthening bars behind the roof lining?
My previous 75 had this problem due to the bonding between roof and bars becoming brittle, so allowing the roof to vibrate. It was much more noticeable in warmer weather. I guess the roof expanded away from the bars and created a gap in which vibration occurred. Mike |

No, the whole body shakes. It looks like a problem is with the wheels I have changed the rim on left rear one and rebalanced - car feels much better now. Will ask kwikfit to rebalance the right one |
