We tested positive earlier in the year. As before, a light cold & a cough for me & a couple of days on the sofa for my wife. We don't wear masks.

Do they know something we don’t? If so, how? I’ve just had an email from a confirmed NHS source telling me there are new treatments available for those who have been infected by new strains of the Covid plague, including the original wave of the disease.

Apparently this new vax is for those who have been treated before and those who had been told they could expect a reduced level of protection after vaccing. Now I’ve not had ‘it’ or anything like ‘it’ and certainly have not been vacced. Further, I have never given my email address to the NHS or any of its subsidiaries (that I know of). They even give my NHS number together with other details I won’t go into. It seems like there might be something in the water. Curiouser and couriouser.

I just had covid and as I'm diabetic I have some complications. My blood sugar was so high that I needed to buy some meds from partner pharmacy to lower it. Now I'm feeling much better, but I'm still on meds.

I am glad that you are over the main bout, and I wish you well for your continued recovery.

Do you not have a NHS in Dublin? I ask as you mention having to buy your meds which for diabetes I think are available via the NHS in England.

Regards covid, I think that I might have had it a few weeks ago. If not that then a bad dose of a flu-like bug which I don't recall being hit so hard with before. It happened just before I began to receive the email invites for the seasonal flu and covid jabs which in previous years I have had but this time I am not sure that I will. My thinking being that flu and colds I always weathered without too much of a problem and never gave them much thought before my age triggered the invites for the flu jab. And for the covid booster I'm thinking that the horse might have bolted so to speak and I'm mindful of possibly taking an unnecessary hit on my immune system.

Not sure if I've had covid in the past, if I had it was minor but certainly had it a couple of months ago, breathlessness was really unpleasant, thankfully only lasted a couple of days. I still don't feel "right" though. My cousin has been "lucky" enough to have it three times!

Does anybody have to hand official annual and reliable figures for Flu for 21/22/23 so far? If so, then add them to the supposed Cov figs quoting sources. I'd find them very interesting.

They are struggling to get a lot of people on board with the vaccines this time around. My missus had her flu jab and was offered the Covid one but refused. I'm having nowt now. So fed up with it all. I've had mt three score and ten and get more depressed every time I turn on the telly or pick up a news paper, so don't do either any more! I pick up the headlines with a quick peek on the net and leave it there. You don't know what to believe! Nature is a wonderful thing and we (the human race) keep messing with it.

Wife went to the hairdressers the week before last and got it and now I've got it. We had it just over a year ago as well.
Trying to stack, chop and cut wood right now is hard work.

I had hoped it was over but it seems not.

Mac,

The virus or its variants will always be with us. Best that will happen is that instead of it being a global pandemic it will morph into regional epidemics. Same as the Black Death and such.
