My kenwood cd player that was playing up now works. I took the good bits off the new one and put them into the old one with the working amp. So now I can turn up my cd player nice and loud to listen to my death metal..... .
But its not all fun and games, cant get my steering wheel contols to work . Its the same set up as the oldlone but dunno if there is a way to sync it again??
All help is appreciated

So it was the Amp then? You must be chuffed!

You can try this, not sure if it will work on yours, did on mine when I changed my headunit.

Turn off Ignition and remove Key. Disconnect the Stalk Adaptor from the Main Loom and unplug the jack plug from Headunit. Reconnect the Stalk Adaptor to the Main Loom, but leave the Jack Plug disconnected. Turn Ignition on and Radio and tune in a station and save it. Turn off Ignition and remove Key. Now plug in the Jack Plug to Headunit. Turn on ignition and Radio. The Steering controls should work no if this works....

Here is the procedure written on the info that came with my Patch lead when I changed from Clarion to Pioneer:

1. Link the Pioneer interface to the PC99-XXX series lead

2. Plug the main loom (not the jack) into both the vehicle and the head unit

3. Power up the stereo by ignition and seek then store a radio station (this wakes the unit up)

4. Switch the stereo off by ignition

5. Plug the jack

6. Switch the stereo on by ignition and wait up to 20 minute for audio to come through before testing the remote controls

7. If in any doubt that this has not been done in the correct order, the loom must be disconnected from the vehicle, the jack disconnected from the stereo and the process started again.

It was the amp!!!! .... well the old cd player worked fine but the screen went off. Possible ribbon rip. Sooooo swapped over the tape player and the front screen with ribbon and now have fully working cd player again with working tape player and screen. Everything works perfect! But sadly steering wheel controls dont work and just checked and they aint infrared controls, so they must be hard wired. Dunno what ive done but over the moon I have fully working cd player for £1.06....bargain. less than the cost of a new ribbon and got a working tape player thrown in for free lol
