Diesel Drop links

So I replaced both front drop links back in January because I started getting the knocking when going over bumps and then all was good. However started noticing the knocking again recently. I'm aware they tend to fail quite quickly on the diesels but would they be going this quick or is there something else to check Aswell? Thanks in advance.

Short life of drop links is usually due to poor quality, my factory fit drop links lasted 100.000 k and the MEYLE HD pair that replaced them about 5 yrs ago are still fine.
DMGRS a trader here sells good ones with a 4yr guarantee (I think) or try EBay for MEYLE HD also with a 4 yr guarantee.

Check the anti roll bar bushes.

Remove the rubbers and add wxtra grease whichever make of drop link you choose, there are not many that carry enough grease from the factory.

I second Andy’s recommendation. I use Castrol CL grease for this job. Very ‘sticky’.

Ok thanks for the feed back. My last ones were fitted by a garage so unaware of the quality but I would like to start doing as much as I can myself. The dmgrs warranty sounds ideal so thanks for the information. Will give the grease tip a go too.

my meyle ones i fitted 4 years ago are still going strong..
I did pop more grease in as even these were a bit lacking..

Years ago I bought some new drop links and decided to remove the rubbers to inspect them before fitting. The manufacturer had put a small blob of grease on each end but the grease was on the bar not the ball/socket. They were relying on it working itself into the ball/socket with use. That may never have happened and even if it did eventually work its way in how long would there have been metal to metal contact before the grease was distributed? Now I always check them before fitting.
