Default XBox 360 question.

Does anybody know if i could use an external hard drive via a USB lead on a 360 seeing as my 20gig is getting a bit full, if not is there a way of transferring all the data onto a new 120gig Xbox HD.

Hi,

Simply plugging in an external USB HD will not work unfortunately. You can play media from the external drive but you cannot copy onto it.

I understand that the new Xbox 360 HDs come with a cable and some software for you to be able to transfer data/live account from your 20gb HD.

Pete

I've read of people ugrading their own hdd units to 120GB but they had to use a particular model of 2.5" drive for it to work. I'll find a link if anyone's interested.

I've just found this one on a quick search so you can see it's possible to do.

Here's a more comprehensive guide which also includes instructions on how to transfer your existing data onto the newer larger hard drive: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.p...ic=660096&st=0

I ordered a 120GB western digital scorpio bevs hdd from ebuyer yesterday & will be aiming to do this upgrade on friday. The £ saving isn't as huge as it could have been but the drive is £39 and I already have a sata interface so I'm ready to go. I anyone's interested how I get on I will update here after it's fitted.
