No PC Input - Monitor error Message
Unless I press the reset switch on my PC 3 or 4 times I get the above message on my monitor, after that it operates fine.
Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit SP1 fully upto date This is what I have tried so far Connect cable to another Monitor. Tried different Cable. Updated Nvidia drivers. Checked power supply. Checked hard drive using S.M.A.R.T software. Tried different Nvidia graphics card. Checked problems & reports within Vista. Only connect to intenet for updates, but ran CCleaner & Malwarebytes' Anti- Malware just incase of any thing bad. Tried different memory sticks. Opened the landing window just incase. What else could I try please? James |

Probably a silly question but, is the monitor switched on before the computer? If the monitor is supplied with power from a pass through on the computer it may be worth supplying power directly from a socket and switching it on first. Some monitors are fussy about the order and timing of power on.

I have taken the Motherboard out of the case, connected it to a CRT monitor which makes a ping sound as normal upon start up the green led comes on for a few seconds but then goes out leaving a black screen.
I then put the PC back together but installed another SATA drive (with the others still disconnected) in the hope my original "C" drive had a bad cluster that S.M.A.R.T didn't detect, but no such luck. |

You say you replaced the motherboard, did you replace the graphics card as well? I had a similar problem but it seemed to be more prominent if I had moved the PC from one location to another. After a few weeks the problem became intermittent and then it went away - I haven't had it for ages. I wonder if my motherboard was the culprit.

Graphics card is fine, I have 2 PC's that are almost identical,I was able to test the components one by one from the working one. I swapped CPUs over as a last resort & it still didn't work. So something on the Motherboard failed. |
