Hmmm, maybe we're getting closer to the root of the problem.

With the ignition in position 2 as you suggest without the engine running and with the multi-plug unfastened and turned around, so that I am looking at the female ends with the centre one uppermost:

I get 4.98 volts on the centre connection; I also get a reading of 5.62 volts on the left hand, yellow/blue connector with no reading on the right hand connector.

The engine also cut out for the first time this morning, just ambling along at a steady 50mph and it cut out. Restarted 1st time with the easy-start.

Does this mean that I need an ECU specialist?

john,

Yes the third wire is the earth so 0 volts.
4.98 volts as a supply is excellent

Interesting,5.62 volts means that you have the same voltage connected or not ?

Please try again, connected (try to pick with à
pin throw the insulation)
you must have about 4 volts on the yellow/blue wire
4 volts equal 2.6 bars
this information tell the ECU ,the low pressure value.

If not,it looks like a faulty sensor or a bad connection.

Forget the ECU for the moment.

Thanks Mike,

Initially, I completely misunderstood your first instruction and disconnected the plug with the engine running which is where I got the original yellow/blue reading from.

I do have 3.96 volts on the yellow/blue wire with the plug connected and the key at position two, this drops to 1.05 volts as soon as the underbonnet pump cuts out.

Very interesting,it shows the intank pump provide some pressure and the UBP
the complement.
At least all is correct on this side.

Are you sure of your injector leakback test ?

Mike

I'll check the injector leak-back again tomorrow, and if that's ok I see no option but to take it to the garage for diagnosis. Although I know that this will cost quite a lot of money, i need to get the car running correctly again as soon as possible, I rely on it as my sole means of transport.

Unless you have any other options I could try?

John,

don't worry,

even if a injector or two is leaking, you can replace it yourself.
All the infos are here.

Maybe can you try an injector cleener too ?

I did the leak-back test again this morning and got a result between number 2 and 3.

I don't know why I got no result last time, maybe I just wasn't squeezing hard enough, very annoying to think that I should have found it at the beginning of the week.
