And here it is being installed this morning in the city centre. And it's the size of the city centre!
I hope it's got made in Hull written on it!

I have visited Hull many times and I was always fond of it. I grew up in Grimsby, just over the river, and my Dad used to have business in Hull regularly. In school holidays I used to go across with him, taking the car ferry; the Tattershall and then the Lincoln. Hard to believe I used to cross the Humber in a car on a paddle steamer still being operated commercially, but I did! I remember one rough crossing where the ferry - which was not easy to manoeuvre at the best of times - collided with the jetty in a heavy cross wind, doing quite a bit of damage, and the ramp wouldn't lower to let the cars off. My dad was not happy....
Funnily enough I went to a wedding party some years ago on the Tattershall (now moored on the Thames Embankment) and bored everyone to death telling them I used to cross the Humber on this....blah blah... |

I used to deliver milk from Liverpool to the dairy in Charles street five nights a week for many years and met many nice people. It was a great journey once I passed Leeds and got onto the quiet stretch, M62 then A63. Thanks, John.
