Smile Ink costs.

I have recently bought a Epson Xp 645 all in one, I have priced the replacement cartridges, the price is horrendous. Has anybody used cheap replacements i.e. Hornsea inks?. Will these inks work with my printer?. Thanks, John.

Hi John

I have an Epson all in one (different model), having switched from HP. I have tried all manner of non Epson inks and, unfortunately, Epson doesn't like any of them - lots of multi-coloured finger tips and one ruined table top.
What I do now is buy the high capacity cartridges and I have to say that they seem to last forever. Others may disagree, but I feel that it is worth the extra investment in 'proper' cartridges.

Get a refill pack and save a fortune. V simple drill a wee hole, use the supplied syringe, screw in a self tapper and replace. I must have re-used the OEM cartridges loads of times with no diminution in quality. If you're worried about spillage place on a newspaper and wear thin plastic gloves. Once you've done it once it's a doddle. You may also need a chip resetter so that the printer doesn't say the cartridge is empty but that's a one off purchase.
