Default V6 just went into meltdown

Had a new aircon condenser fitted Monday so today I thought would be a good idea to get it regassed today whilst in Gloucester. I can’t drive as I’ve just had surgery so wife and I set off or so we thought.

3 things are obvious immediately.
Gearbox has gone into limp mode. On the dash instead of D for Drive it says EP and crawls along in 3rd gear I suspect.
VIS motor at the back nearest the bulkhead is running continuously so I’ve pulled the plug so it does not drain the battery when the engine is off as it really does run all the time.
Finally the rad cooling fan runs continuously too. I’ve left the system on ECON until I’ve had the regass but it just runs.

Any advice is welcome as we are a car down right now. Thanks

Sounds like a kbus error, battery disconnect for 10 mins and see what that does, if it doesnt work, start looking for water ingress on an electrical component.

Just put the battery back on.
Limp mode is gone and car drives. Fan not running but I’m sure it will come back on if the engine gets hot. Will watch that one.
Only concern left is the VIS motor running after the engine is off.
Press the red test button in and it will go off but release the button and it comes back on. Unplug when idle is my only option to avoid battery drain. At least I have a working car again.
Great advice and quick too thanks.

Your Vis motor will be fine, it is the balance flap behind it has sheered, not an uncommon problem. Your Vis motor will just rotate round and round without the flap but will actually stop after a few mins of taking the key out when the ECU shuts down. until you find a replacement flap the best thing to do is to disconnect it from the plug. It may need resetting when you fit the new flap. PM me when you have a replacement flap and I will go through that with you

Thanks. The motor does now turn off after a short time. Yes will have to source a flap and unplug for now.

Despite a 20 mile journey it’s gone again. Battery is off. Will try it again in the morning.
